Eligibility criteria
- The Saudi driving licence must be valid for at least one year.
- Issuance is limited to citizens and residents of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia only.
- The applicant has no outstanding traffic violations.
- The IDL is valid for one year from the date of issue.

Frequently asked questions
No. The IDP is only a translation supplement to your national licence. You must carry both when driving abroad and present them if authorities ask.
No. The IDP is valid for one year from the date of issue and cannot be issued for a longer period.
Reprinting the same serial is not possible. A new IDP can be issued on request, subject to applicable fees.
Yes. Rental companies abroad generally accept the IDP. You may also drive your own vehicle or a first-degree relative’s vehicle while abroad, subject to local rules.
No. The IDP does not provide insurance. You may purchase suitable cover separately from insurers or automobile clubs.
Renewal is not available. If your Saudi licence is still valid, you may apply for a new IDP online; international shipping may be available for an additional fee.
